Anesthesiologist with over 25 years of clinical practice, Karine Meller built her career at the intersection of two knowledge systems that, at first glance, seem distant — but which, in her view, are deeply complementary.

As Head of the Anesthesiology Department at Vila Nova Hospital Association, she leads NASA — the Anesthesiology and Ayurveda Welcoming Nucleus — a pioneering project integrating Ayurvedic care into the perioperative process. The goal is simple and profound: for every patient to arrive at surgery with body and mind prepared.

"My purpose as a teacher is to build bridges — between classical Sanskrit knowledge and modern physiology, between millennial intuition and scientific evidence."

As a Full Professor of Ayurveda at Caduceu College, she is dedicated to a mission she considers equally essential: training health professionals capable of integrating Ayurveda into clinical practice with scientific rigour. A space where the depth of tradition does not exclude — but dialogues with — modern medicine.
